i think that the dark depths coming in to play with counters is not a ability that can be countered or stopped.

From what I've learned from my recent "Stifle / Dark Depths" fiasco, the land's entry ability is a replacement effect, not a triggered ability so it's not countered...

...also, Torpor Orb only affect creatures, and I don't think anyone would taste the time making it a creature just to have to sacrifice it. The only card that would even let you do that is Natural Emergence, but it costs you just to put it out, so that in turn makes it an even more unlikely and impractical idea.

akinas is right, dark depth at the current time is one card you can not stop from coming into play with the counters (but you can stop the land from entering play for a turn or 2... with stuff that prevents a player from playing land)

thats why the hexmage is good with it, as it removes all the counters... fast

Thanks. I know I'm good for one or two combos a month that I fail to notice the absurdity of even posting them. I cast Humility and target me if I could...

I think it's to be able to cast Torpor Orb on first or second turn... which clearly won't do anything for it.
