Not exactly obscure and requires 12 mana but okay!

obscure means different, or not commonly used, in this situation.

Well it's probably not commonly used because of how expensive it is to activate this a bunch of times. Try substituting followed footsteps in, that makes it only cost 5 per turn, plus you'll gain an army of chronarchs.

Uh, miley? Not to burst your bubble, but "obscure" just means "something that's not widely known"... example: Sonata Arctica is a rather obscure band that I like. And perhaps the reason it's not widely known is because it costs more mana than there are usually turns in a regular match.

Sorry to have to post this in a combo thread, but Sonata Arctica rocks!

Great choice of tunes, Greg!

It definitely is an interesting combo, but as said above, there are much cheaper alternatives.

Sonata Arctica is an amazing band. I got to hug Tony Kakko last year when I saw them in concert. It was amazing, and awkward, since I'm like 6'2" and have a full beard, and he's... not.

Okay, so I guess I was wrong—Sonata Arctica isn't as obscure as I thought they were...

...either that, or we all just have really, really good taste in music.

Well, since we obviously like good music, here are a few more like Sonata Arctica that I listen to:

Hammerfall
Sabaton
Dragonland
Kamelot
Savatage
Edguy
Blind Guardian
Therion
Falconer

Any other good ones not mentioned here for the Operatic/Symphonic/Epic metal genre?

I'm so sad that Roy Khan left Kamelot!! They'll never sound the same again... :(
And Kamelot and Sonata Arctica aren't really obscure, they are the top 2 bands on the European metal charts.

True, but I live in the states, where the 'metal' scene is dominated by such crap like Nickelback and Linkin Park and other whiny bands. Even the better stuff like Slipknot and Mastadon just can't compare with the European metals.

I like your list as is, especially with Blind Guardian on it, but really? No Nightwish (and I'm talking back when Tarja Turunen was in the band, not that tart Anette Olson*), Korpaklaani or Apocalyptica? I don't think there's many more good metal bands that are both symphonic and partially fantasy-based.

* Okay, so Anette did okay with "Amaranth" and "Bye Bye Beautiful", but those were her only two real hits from Dark Passion Play... but Tarja, she had CDs full of hits. Every song that emanated from her throat, from "Elvenpath" to "White Night Fantasy", was pure gold.

Oh, but I have Nightwish and Apocalyptica in my collection. I have seen both in concert, though that was with the aforementioned 'tart'. I was simply listing a basic few. There are several others to choose from, for both the symphonic and fantasy, like Symphony X, Angra, Dragonforce, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire, Vanden Plas...the list goes on....

How about Rhapsody, and Luca Turilli? Maybe even Galloglass? They are a few more Symphonic Epic Metal bands. There's another one too that I can't seem to remember at the moment...

-Edit- I realize that you mentioned Rhapsody of Fire in your last post. Sorry, I must have missed that. Also, the band I was trying to think of was Pagan's Mind.

Out of curiosity, can you attach a link without having the words being blue and underlined.

Hyperlink

You can't get rid of the underline, but. . . if you change the color of the text, it will change normally

You need to teach me how to do that. . .

But... but if I teach you how to do that, I'll have one less thing that makes me superior to you.

Okay, I take that back. If you really wanna know, I'll tell you.

UPDATE: I'll just go ahead and take your silence as a resounding 'yes'. Anywhere you're able to use HTML and CSS coding, you can make a link with <a> tags. If you do, you can use "style" modifiers in the appropriate places to transform your link. Have a free example:
< a href="Your Link Here" style="text-decoration:none; color:#000000" > Text, Text, Text! < /a >
So now you can turn any ordinary link into a hidden gem.

Well, obviously my link was hidden so well that you didn't notice it, proving that my method works. (Hint: Hover over the word "superior".) Also, I guess sarcasm doesn't convey well through digital text, does it?

..."social interactions"? Doesn't sound like any MtG card I've ever heard of... nothing on Gatherer either with that kind of name. Well, I'm sure you know what you're talking about... ;P

@Lin - I specifically left out Avantasia, as it is fronted by Edguy, and is actually a conglomeration of musicians from a bunch of bands. Also, the song "Avantasia" first appeared on an Edguy album.

I stopped listening to "actual bands" two years ago. I have found that no all that songs made by any band are all good. (except maybe Skrillex).

i realize this is a hard combo to pull off, (not so much edh) but i saw it as a combo, and since this site is about posting combos (good or bad) i posted it. Im not insulting your "constructive criticism" i am aware this is an expensive combo. Whats the harm in posting it though.

Why did you put constructive criticism in quotes if no one before had said it?

Also, I do believe that the topic of the thread was music.

haha... wow way to hijack the thread ya'll... also kudos on the bands... all extremely good... :D

@the combo itself if you want to bring the mana cost down or make it easier...
throw in an Animar and a Bloom Tender. this combo would actually be fairly doable at that point. expecially in a large group of free for all.
