You just have to use Aether Adepts ability to bounce itself because the Adept isn't a legal target for Equilibrium.

Equilibrium triggers when you cast the creature, not when it enters the battlefield.

Oh yea, never noticed that. 

I bet this is one of those things that people play hundreds of times and never realize they are breaking the rules.

The combo still works, you just have to bounce the Adept with itself.

i thought the term play and cast were different in the case of magic
