It is a good idea, but I am not quite sure it would work. Does March of the Machines trigger after the artifact comes in, turning it into a creature, or does it allow the artifact to be a creature before it comes into play. If the first is true, then a creature would not come into play and trigger the Intruder Alarm, because the creature would have been an artifact in play before it became a creature. If the second possibility is true, then the combo would work as posted. Any rules gurus able to help with this?

It actually does work as intended. I had to really stop and think about it, because logically I feel like it shouldn't work. But rules are rules, and the rules say it does work. March of Machines affects cards at layer 4:

613.1d Layer 4: Type-changing effects are applied. These include effects that change an object’s card type, subtype, and/or supertype.

613.4. The application of continuous effects as described by the layer system is continually and automatically performed by the game. All resulting changes to an object’s characteristics are instantaneous.

And its supported by the ruling on ETB triggers, which indicates that the triggers occur not as they enter play, but once they enter play, at which point they are affected by any type change cards in play.

603.6a Enters-the-battlefield abilities trigger when a permanent enters the battlefield. These are written, “When [this object] enters the battlefield, . . . ” or “Whenever a [type] enters the battlefield, . . .” Each time an event puts one or more permanents onto the battlefield, all permanents on the battlefield (including the newcomers) are checked for any enters-the-battlefield triggers that match the event.

In the past, I got lot of damages from combo Opalescence and Pandemonium digged by Replenish of my friend. And I think in that case this combo can perform.
