Ok, now I know what a lot of you are gonna say to this one, but just imagine if you had this hand.

Now, put your swamp down, play 3 dark rituals that will give you a total of 7 black mana to your pool. Then you put down Carrion Howler and Blood Celebrant. So up to there you've just used 5 black mana. Now you pay 1 other black mana and pay 1 life with Blood Celebrant to add a colorless mana to your pool. So your at 19 life and still have 1 black mana and a colorless mana left in your pool. Then you pay 9 life to turn your Carrion Howler's power to 20. So now your down to 10 life but still alive, Right. And now you use your colorless mana to cast fever charm which will give Carrion Howler haste and BOOM!!! Game Over.

And by the way, I just realized how powerful Carrion Howler can be in play, then again depending on the situation. But if you come to think about it, if your still at 20 life let's say, during your combat phase. You can pay 19 of your life to turn it's power to 40 and attack with that beasty number. Now that's big. And imagine adding that to a life gaining deck!!! And like I said depending on the situation of the game and what type of deck your playing against and the cards that are in play, well it can be pretty strong. I'm starting to like this card a lot, it can be very useful in a deck.

Carrion howler will die if you keep pumping it... The second time you pump it,  it will be 6/0... Dead rat... i mean wolf... or zombie...

Lol. Alonso makes ridiculous combos. I enjoy it immensely :P Carrion howler kills itself dude. You can't let a crature go below 1 toughness, it dies instantly without you having a chance to save it.

BTW, if you really want to use Carrion Howlers, invest in some equipment. Black has some of the best creatures to tweak. Put a Slagwurm Armor on this guy and you will be able to use his ability 7 times without him dying giving him 16 power. Also cards to give him double strike, trample, lifelink, or indestructability would all be great, which can all be achieved through equipment.

Yeah i know just found out about that. But you gave me a good idea by equipping it with Slagwurm armor. I'll repost another combo with Carrion Howler using this. Thanks Paradox :)
