Title: NEED HELP WITH THIS DECK! lol

I'm trying to build an elf deck for casual game, and i have posted an option that i build in many sites of decks, for comments and new ideas. But i don't get any post and comments in them! I know this site is based on combos, but if someone have critics or new ideas for this, i will be pleasured ;D This the deck, considering i don't use sideboard. Please give your opinion:
The idea of the deck is:
1: Upgrade the creature draw power of the deck with Sylvan Messenger, Sylvan Library, Garruk, Skyshroud Poacher and Staff of Domination.
2: Make combos with Seeker of Skybreak, Natural Order & Progenitus, Staff of Domination & Priest / Archdruid.
3: Power up the elves with Ezuri, Imperous Perfect, Archdruid, and others.
CREATURES: Llanowar Elves X 4 - Elvish Archdruid X 4 - Priest of Titania X 4 - Sylvan Messenger X 4 - Imperious Perfect X 4 - Wrens Run Vanquisher X 4 - Seeker of Skybreak X 2 - Fyndhorn Elves X 2 - Wres Run Packmaster X 1 - Ezuri, Renegade Leader X 1 - Skyshroud Poacher X 1 - Immaculate Magistrate X 1 - Progenitus X 1.
OTHER: Beast Within X 3 - Staff of Domination X 2 - Coat of Arms X 1 - Natural Order X 1 - Garruk, Primal Hunter X 1 - Sylvan Library X 1
LANDS: Forest X 17 - 1 Yavimaya Hollow X 1

Firstly, are you able to draw on any more cards, or are willing to buy more? Quite often suggestions get shot down with 'I can't do that'... the following advice is based on you being willing and able to get hold of more cards.

Anyway, ditch the Garruk. He does pretty much nothing for the deck as it. If you must have a planeswalker, put in 2 or 3 copies of Garruk Wildspeaker - the land untap and overrun effects will be far more useful than beast tokens and eventual Wurms.

Also ditch Progenitus - relying on him + Natural Order if you only have a single copy of each isn't a great plan - especially if you draw Progenitus as you have no way of playing him.

The Packmaster doesn't really do much for the deck, I would swap it and the above for more Immaculate Magistrates. I guess if you have infinite mana it gives you Wolves, but Rhys is better for token generation.

Assuming you are wanting to generate absurd mana and use a Staff of Domination as the win condition, I would consider adding Rhys the Redeemed to generate bucketloads of Elf tokens, then lock down your opponent's creatures and swing for massive damage the next turn.

Wirewood Lodge would be a great land to replace forests with, probably best for 3-4 of them. Untapping a Priest or Archdruid will give massive mana.

Wirewood Pride would also be a great card - in most circumstances it will be better than Giant Growth and will be useful on the offence or defence.

DEFINITELY add another 2 Staff of Domination to the deck as it will be the primary win condition. As long as you have a staff out and can generate 5 or more mana by tapping an Elf (quite easy with the Priests and Archdruids plus the weenies) you have unlimited mana - which can be funnelled back into the staff for infinite life and card draw.

Well Zark-the-Damned, i have really got your point.... many thanks. I'm now trying to use search cards to substitute Natural Order, Progenitus and the Packamster. But i want some cards that can be used in combos and at the same time, they alone not interfere or result in a useless effect, like Presence of Gond + Devoted Druid that are only useful when are together, except the Staff of Domination that i already use. Suggestions????  : ]

Coat of Arms is better, because you will have played all your elves by turn 4.

Depending on how dead set you are on Elf Tribal, you could focus more on absurd mana generation and drop some of the Elves in exchange for more mana guys. 4 Overgrown Battlements (maybe Vine Trellis) will give you massive mana plus decent early game defence.

Nature's Lore will help you dig out more Forests AND thin your deck out meaning you have a better chance of getting the cards you want. Cultivate will also help do this though is a bit slower.

Once you have ridiculous quantities of mana, it's time to spend it. Cards with X in the cost are a good bet, as are cards with abilities you can use repeatedly.

Ursapine will allow you to give all your guys large bonuses to power and toughness in the even you can't find your Magistrates.

Alternately, a Feral Hydra will get stupidly big! Not only will it be huge when cast, but it will keep growing every turn with your excess mana. Especially good if you add Rancor (or similar) to give him trample.

You could add Eldrazi to the deck. 15 mana for Emrakul will be child's play once your mana base gets going, giving you another turn and a 15/15 flying, trampling beatstick who dodges most removal and kills a ton of stuff with every swing!

On the other hand, if you're already using the Staff to gain infinite mana and life, why not throw down a Hurricane and kill all your opponents (and flyers) in one go?

Really, it all depends on what you want to do with the deck :)

i agree, the coat is good... use 4 Genesis Wave as well :P (and a lot of mana producing elves...) dont forget the ones that boost other elves... (Joraga Warcaller, Elvish Champion, Elvish Archdruid, etc... happy hunting... also use Nissa's Chosen, Nissa Revane, Elvish Harbinger

there are more nasty surprises in my elf deck... but that should be a good start

as you wish  i still think you'd be better with door of destinies    its playable turn 2 turn 3 and will pump up your elves   i wouldnt want to pump up my opponents creatures in any way shape or form.  i really dont see how youve ran through the deck and played all your elves turn 4 unless you draw gods hand

Door of Destinies is much easier to get rid of, weaken. Also, if you can play it on turn 2, you can play your entire hand on 4 EASILY.

i dont question it but win to lose ratio  going head to head with door vs coat    door usually wins.  naturalize kills both as an example.  either is easily destroyed  but with tokens to pay and creatures to return and combos within combos   ill get you every time with door of destinies.  my goblins will kill you turn two anyway. lol

let me make an example  lets say im playing door of destinies and i have picked elf.  now i play 10 elves to follow just as a easy #   door has 10 1/1 counters on it.  i pass turn.  you wrath of god  and kill all creatures.  door still has 10 1/1 counters on it.  next turn i play an 11/11 llanowar as it still recieves the credit of the counters on door.

now same example but coat of arms.  once you wrath of god all the counters are destroyed as there is no "other creature that shares a creature type" on the field any more.

but that being said it can also be the way i am playing my elf deck vs. the way anyone else is playing their's.

Another huge disadvantage of coat of arms is that it can be turned against you (my favorite thing to do with my rebel deck).  Unless you have some guaranteed way to out swarm your opponent I don't suggest Coat of Arms (exception when working with changelings)

that way to out-swarm your opponent would be the genesis wave... look how nasty that card is for a elf deck... we all know elves have a huge mana draw potential... my elf deck will consistently push out 25 mana on turn 4... with the genesis wave, it means the top 22 cards of the library revealed and any permanent with cast cost of 22 or less can be played for free... means a crap-load of elves... which is why the coat of arms is a better choice... because they are not being cast, they do not place counters on the door of destiny, so no bonus from the door, but a huge bonus from the coat of arms

if the door of destinies was better overall... then why didnt it come in the premium sliver deck like the coat of arms did?

unless someone does something like a wrath of god directly after the genesis wave (provided they are alive to do it)... then it is game over for an opponent... especially if you have a Concordant Crossroads out (then it really doesnt matter... it is game over... can get the Concordant Crossroadsout from the wave too)...

With all the mana the elfs can bring how about wolf bringer elemental, then the the Pack master has a place in the deck. Maybe add triumph of the hordes with all the tokens and stuff not many can withstand that.

Reallying on genesis wave doesn't seem like the best idea, first off you have to get, which could be significantly hampered by a single jester's cap, next it is easy to counter, next if you just took the top 30 cards off you library probably already at 50, than you have 20 cards left in you library, which is a very easy mill kill even against an non-mill deck.  And even if you do pull that off without reperations, than still you'll find a good Saporling Deck, Bird Deck, Wizard Deck, Merfolk Deck (maybe. . .) has a larger army than you.

I know these all bank off your opponent having a well built deck (of course this is what you get between brothers (my primary opponent)) I just see door of destitinies as a more practical card.  As for the slivers, largely because of the amount of slivers that were to be put into play via sliver queen.

i agree with sivvi    the sliver deck was composed basically to draw through your deck and put slivers out.  this is the entire base of sliver decks. mass production of slivers.  but who is playing sliver decks   i havent seen one in 10 years other than the collectible bargaining of that set.  if i were to play a sliver deck then yes i would opt to put in coat  but in thecase of this deck idea i do stand firm on my belief that door would be a better choice

Also coat of arms would fit better into a rebel deck, but why would you need one?

on the other hand why not just throw in some land  creating creaters   i.e  birchlore rangers tapping for a red  you already have enough card draw and enough mana generation to banefire your opponent. you all know it will be much more than 5 damage which cant be countered nor prevented

On a side note, Rich, I was wondering what you use the Elvish Pipers for in that deck of yours... It looks like the highest cost critter is 4 (coincidentally the Piper's cmc). I think in your deck, they are lightning bolt fodder at best...

i use the piper just in case for some reason i run into a jam. also i believe that its a pretty good card with a great effect. if i so decide to run bigger creatures and/or combos  it certainly helps me out but in no way does it slow me down. no other reason

generally speaking  i use the shaman/piper combo to fetch the heedless ones.  like i said my deck too needs some filtering and i have just put some cards in and some need to come out

The Door of Destinies works because it says when you play a spell, NOT cast a spell.
On a side note, thanks for bringing this card to my attention.. itll go great in my Relentless Rat deck

@ Rich

Here's another example, you are playing against Vampires. You have a Door with 10 counters, and you are so giddy, because you chose Door over Coat, so it doesn't help him. Your opponent plays Vampire Hexmage and removes the counters.

Both cards have a downside but I believe the door is better because it only helps you.
If someone were to play Vampire Hexmage I don't think they would want to waste it seeing how that card is probably part of their win condition. But I'm a noob so do what ya want =D

You play coat of arms, they play conquerors pledge.. uh oh now I'm a goner!
Also,  there are many cards you can use to charge up the door without playing creatures.

if you want to play wour coat then go ahead  if you are going to waste hexmage on my door then you are obviously new to magic.  you have absolutely just threw your win condition.  oops i splash blue and counter hexmage from the go.  oops i throw in white and play hannas custody   now what are you to do.  instead of arguing over these two card  throw in another piece of advice to help out the deck.

Between Door of Destinies and Coat of Arms, i think these two have much similaritys in the effects, but many diferences at the same time! Each of them have, obviously, their advantages and disavantages to counterbalance their powers.
But i will agree to add Coat of Arms in my elf deck, because:
1: For example, if a have 7 elfs in my board and alleatory buys a Door of Destinies and put it in play, none of them will adquire a bonus until i play an elf from my hand, instead of Coat.
2: Use Door of Destinies will eventually decrease the ability of token generation of Imperious Perfect or the combination Imperious Perfect + Seeker of Skybreak, because i will put the tokens in play and don't gain any bonus, again instead of Coat.
But it's obvious there will be situations that the Door will be much great than Coat.

I think that's ironic to post a deck in a site of combos and get more ideas than sites of decks LOL.
But is because this that i have to thank you all for comments and critics, they will make my deck better and less expensive in the $$$$ if you understand me.... really many, many thanks. ^.^

just for ha ha's  i know its kinda pricey  but how about glimpse of nature (if not banned/restricted)  its kinda pricey but has the potential for greatness    also  as others reply   can we think of any good combos to go with g.o.n. to go into the elf deck.  lets make this a kill as fast as possible combo  beat down deck   lol

i tried something similar to the glipse, and id was ok, but didnt really shine like one would think, thats why i like the genesis wave, it shines in all elf decks.. stupid-high amounts of mana = tons of critters on the board (and if you got concordant crossroads in there, then they all have haste... usually game over

I would like to add that lots more games have been lost by playing coat of arms than playing door of destinies. But i guess in a crazy elf deck these cards are just afterthoughts.

don't forget if you have a strong base of elves elvish guidance can get mana going quick I run an elf deck as well and a good combo is umbral mantle on viridian joiner but since you use staff of domination joiner would do great for that as well the combo I run is viridian joiner staff of domination funly enough a myr matrix and a blasting station how it works: get viridian joiner pumped up enough to make 5 mana which will give you the staff combo as well as inf. mana use your inf. mana to draw to myr matrix and blasting station from there just make a ton of myr and sac. them to blasting station for the win I usually only play station and matrix after hitting inf. mana otherwise they are big targets either way I highly suggest umbral mantle with joiner that in itself is inf. mana as well as a million / million creature give him trample and it's over..........but what route do you want to go honestly if you are mana building rofellos is also good I like elvish piper but if you have tons of mana and use piper most times your mana will just sit there doing nothing..........but let me know what your thoughts are I'd love feedback as someone who enjoys the elves also

Why can't we all get along? All kidding aside, why not run a Coat and a Door in the same deck? Then you can have all the advantages of either. True, they both have their downsides, but to have both in play with a token generator (Elf or Goblin deck), then you can just swing FTW at any time. Yes, these cards have high CMC, but with elves, this isn't really a problem.

The only things I might add to this deck would be an Ambush Commander and maybe an Alpha Status or two, or Joraga Warcaller.

The fact id that i builded a base for this deck, and i don't want to substitute these base cards. So the other cards that remain to changes are:
Seeker of Skybreak - A joker in my deck, virtually "any card with a tap ability": Can make the tap ability from Priest, Archdruid, Imperious, Magistrate and others work twice in a turn.
Skyshroud Poacher - Dig out more elves from the library with a low cost, unless it own casting cost...
Vigor - End gamer along with other elves, making them immune to damage, burns and others.
Regal Force - Helps a lot with the draw power of the deck.
Joraga Treespeaker is good, but i don't think it will be a great deal in my deck, Gilt-Leaff Archdruid is awesome, but i don't run many Druids, Ambush Commander turn my Forests vulnerable to destroys, Alpha Status i don't think is an awesome card...
But a Coat of Arms and Joraga Warcaller would be good, the problem is: what card that i writed above can i put out of the deck to exchange with these?
