So,
ever have any game of magic where funny shenanigans or combos happen?
post any here!
heres a good example..
i was playing a game of commander, with 3 other people.
me and one of the opponents had a grave pact - which essentially means "whenever a creature dies, all others die" XD ...
and i ended up with an indestructible Karn liberated o.o

A turn in an 8 player game goes like this goes like this.
player 1 casts storm herd for 9 pegasi
player 3 casts (who has a platinum emperion and 2 life) quicken and burst of speed
player 1 swings (crescendo of war is in effect with 10 strife counters) at me (my mono black zombie deck)
player 2 attempts to cast army of allah pegasi now are 13/1s
player 4 (who is my defacto ally casts) disenchant and mana tithe
stack player 5 casts counterspell targeting mana tithe
player 6 (the third biggest power (I'd say I was in second) casts mindbreak trap to make sure I am destroyed.
I cast dash hopes player 6 pays 5 life is at 3.
Pegasi remain attacking my 7 life are 3/1s cast darkness.
His turn ends. Game goes on for another hour because I next cast damnation. I came in second. Fun game though

In an 8 player game, one has time to write a term paper...

I played this wild pentag game a while back.
So here's the layout
P1: Me, pure burn deck
P2: Blue control/steal/etc
p3: black/green cool creature deck
p4: white removal angel deck
p5: green Tribal eldrazi
So the first two turns go by rather tamely, but everyone is eyeing the eldrazi deck cause it's been constantly dropping 2 eldrazi on fifth turn all night. P3's deck is slower. P4 already got a creature lighting bolted from me for attacking. So i decided to shake the game up a little. Starting turn 3 off i drop mana flare. P2 plays it close to the vest but p5 is looking like its christmas morning. p3 and p4 look sic.
So i end my turn. P2 cast bribery on p5 and goes and get Emakural. Now p4 looks really sic. P3 casts elvish piper and DT. P4 cowers. P5 Gets tricky. Casts channel for 5 and then cast Tooth and nail entwined. Gets his one of his other Emakural's and I think it was The butcher of thruth guy. The Emakural's wash since its legendary. P5 is all happy.
Turn 4
P1 (me) adds a land and continues to watch the show wishing i had some popcorn. P2 cast control magic to steal the eldrazi. He's not too confident anymore cause he knows P5 is about to drop something. P3 adds a land and casts a small creature. P4 does the same. P5 casts crop rotation, sacs a forest to fetch his 3rd urza land completing the set. Now he's got a crap load of mana. Taps all of it and drop Emakural again!!!!!!! If we hadn't been cutting we'd accuse his a cheating! Not to be outdone. P3 piper's in Kaervek the Merciless!!!! Emakural hits the board and Kaervek makes player 5 take damage = Emakurals CVC!!! Since p5 channelled for 5 earlier he takes 15 and dies!!!
Three Emakural and a player killed b4 the end of turn 4. And the player got 2 Emakurals into play it the one that died!!!! That was a wild game. He stopped playing Eldrazi after that. Claimed he was too bid a target. LOL

well, i'm not a big fan of Eldrazi decks, but i will say i like his the best. He uses land fetch for Urza land and tooth and nail (which cost him 9). Piper decks are just to cheap. He usually casts most of his eldrazi but usually has 9-12 mana by fifth. Sometimes more.

does the second turn kill from elves, good enough?
my friend has a wizard/morph deck... he was overconfident that he will win against me...
it went...
Turn 1. play forest, elvish spirit guide, birchlore ranger, llanowar elves, tap birchlore and llanowar for another llanowar elves...
his turn went... play an island,,
turn two. play forest, channel (thought he's gonna force spike channel), then two elves(Llanowar and birchlore) attack... he took it so i tapped the other llanowar elves... paid 12 life for 12 mana... tribal unity FTW!

In a two-headed giant game, my opponents had infinite life, infinite mana, infinite 1/1s, and an infinite/infinite. They asked if I just wanted to forfeit because I couldn't possibly win because all I had was a ton of lands and a fusion elemental, I refuse. On my turn I pull out
They spend the next hour looking astonished and pissed off.

one time someone said i couldnt build a powerful deck and run it... so i bet them entire collections... i used 2 decks i had running at the time... dragons and elves and put them as one deck (yes.. it was hard to shuffle)
well..after shuffling... the opponent said they thought i was stacking the deck... so they shuffled... i got a PERFECT hand.. first turn kill with infinite mana and a buyback spell and altar of dementia and a dragon storm ... and concordant crossroads for haste... 22 dragons attacking on the first turn... before they got a single upkeep...
the funny part is when they wanted a rematch... they thought i was cheating, they had 4 people shuffle the deck and it did the same thing... i wasnt allowed to shuffle the deck at all for that one... that person no longer play magic... as they lost their collection that day

I need to play more big multiplayer games...
funnest one recently was a 4 player game with the new Commander decks. One player cast the join forces card where each player fetches basic lands and puts them into play - not expecting everyone to contribute loads of mana! We all fetched out something like 19 lands from that spell... then killed him before he could untap D:
(that game was eventually won by the RWU 'diploatic deck' using another player's Squallmonger and an Insurrection)
FYI Rav, Player3 was cheating in that example you gave. KTM only deals the damage when the spell is CAST, so would have had to be pipered in before Player5 put Emrakul on the stack in order to deal 15 damage.
'Whenever an opponent casts a spell, Kaervek the Merciless deals damage to target creature or player equal to that spell's converted mana cost.'

Back around the time Ice Age came out I was playing a lot of four player games when a group of us had down time.
It was basically 2 experienced tournament level players, 1 casual player, and 1 total noob. I was one of the tournament players, but I always never had the cards I needed because I didn't have time to look into getting cards, so I have a good deck. My other friend has probably the power 9 in every deck he owns. lol
So my friend T1 (tournament 1) goes first and I'm last, while Casual Player plays second and noob third.
T1 is playing a control deck, Casual has a counter deck, and noob has huge creatures.
So T1 plays Elemental Augury. He's got plenty of mana since I destroyed his Time Elemental about 8 times. He taps 3 and looks at Casual's top 3 and then at Noob's top 3. Noob draws awesome big creature, plays big creature, Casual player counters.
Back around and 2 Elemental Augury's later, Noob plays big creature and Casual counters.
This goes on for about 7 rounds! Neither me or T1 are commenting and they aren't getting it until noob says, "how the heck do you manage to get the counter every time I get the big crea..." It hits him that he's getting loaded up with the creature and the other guy with the counter.
The funniest moment I had though was when I showed up for a tournament and I opened the door and the music player broke so the music stopped when I walked in and everyone was looking at me. I'm like what! I ended up winning the tournament too. lol

He wasn't cheatin, there were 5 players at the game wathcing and it was months ago. The mana count is wrong the way i described it but i know p5 has 15 mana. It was just a really funny result. Good catch on the card though.
Ps I might have got the cards wrong, is there one that does damage = power as it enters?

@Rav: I think Zark' point was that Emarkul was already "cast" before KTM was Pipered in. Since the casting was before KTM hit the battlefield, it does not trigger KMT's ablilty (no damage done).
@Lin: I love it when guys think it's time for you to scoop and you topdeck the answer :) definitely deflates the ego boost they got from their deck working so well...

I was talking to my sister and she relayed this one from her last casual magic game. She was using her alternate win condition deck. She had paid down to one life to have near death experience for a win because her darksteel reactor got exiled, NDE is disenchanted she has out djinn illuminatus and battle of wits out on her next turn she uses ashnod's alter and the pili-pala presence of gond uses a gemstone array to use research//development (research) to get her library to 300 cards. She gets traumatized. Other guy is getting annoyed because of platinum angel. Her next turn plays scrapbasket and attempts to helix pinacle which she drew pact of negation. other guys turn is pretty much tapped out 1 blue avaliable. next turn coalition victory, but the other guy force of wills it. Next turn disenchants genral's kabuto platinum loses shroud. casts unsummon attacks all out going to win, but my sister casts fog. Next turn door to nothingness voltaic key and finally my sister wins.

I would be so upset to go through all that, almost kill her and then only to have the door slammed shut.
Definitely movie potential there.

Durign the Time Spiral/Lorwyn era, I was playing a 16 player survival tournament at a local card shop. The rules were all decks had to be mono-color, and 40 cards.
I was playing a white deck with Ajani Goldmane, Loxodon Warhammer, slivers, and the rest stall/control.
I managed to get Ajani's top ability off, and wasted no time in eqipping the avatar with the Hammer of Win. A few swings later, I was at around 160 life with a 160/160.
When I decided to attack the guy playing a green sliver deck, he played Mercy Killing on my avatar.
The next turn I attacked and killed 4 people with around 5000 damage.

I don't beleive that story ^
the sad part of this is... it is true.. and a lot of people were there and saw it... there was at least 10-15 people watching...
the elf deck went stupidly fast, but ran out of steam fast, with infinite mana (any color) and the dragon part of the deck... well.. i think everyone knows dragons used to be the most powerful creature type at one time... but took too long to get them out (why the elves were a perfect match to add to the dragons) i had a mirrari with a wheel of fortune.. and infinite mana with concordant crossroads and dragon storm and fastbond etc...

I had Volrath, a Lord of the Pit some, thrull tokens, a thrull champion. Cast hex he's got nothing. "When killing five isn't enough"

In a recent EDH game, I was running a Zur deck (its not what you think) and my field was stacked with, well, stacks. It looked something like this: War Tax, Norn's Annex, Phyrevian Metamorph (Norns Annex), Collective Restraint, Copy Enchantment (collective restraint),Ghostly Prison, Propaganda, Windborn Muse, Web of Inertia, and Dovescape, and a vedalken plotter cloned to give me all five basic lands, and of course, Zur. I had pulled or drawn every nono card in the deck. My friend looked over and goes well crap we might as well call it. his wife looks over and says no no ive got creatures that destroy enchantments, itll be fine. I look at her, look down, declare zur as an attacker and pull out, what else, greater auramancy. three people scooped. Im a bad person.

One time a used Contagion Engine to nuke a guy's field then when someone else attacked him I felt like being a dick and asked aren't you gonna block and he's like I CAN'T CAUSE YOU KILLED ALL MY CREATURES.
Another time. 2 Up-2 Down. T1 2 Llanowar Elves. T2 Terrastomper. T3 2 Blanchwood Armors. T4 Overwhelming Stampede and swung for lethal. The guy I swung at was famous for wiping the board. One guy could have foged but when I swung at him noone wanted him to live. He threw his hand on the table and was like F***.

Once, in an 8-player game lasting 4 hours (Back in 1994), I had an armageddon clock artifact deck and had systematically whittled them all down to one opponent, who had been saccing his lands to Dark Heart of the Wood to stay alive. He had 2 life left, I had 18, and he only had 2 mana remaining to him. On his turn before the 25-point armageddon clock would have killed him, he pulled a tranquility and destroyed my CoP: Artifacts. That was one of the best games I ever had, and it ended in a draw.
