I love playing this deck.....Use Buried Alive to dump off Magister Sphinx and (two) Laquatus's Champions in the graveyard. Cast your Living Death next turn....and preferrably with the aid of a Boseiju, Who Shelters All....   As your creatures come into play, you get to choose the order in which their abilities trigger. Have the Sphinx first take your oppenent to 10 life, then your Champions trigger for the remaining damage. Regardless of their life total before the combo, they will always die. This can be done often on turn 4, sometimes turn 3, with the right build and right opening hand. 

Also, for some added fun.......Throw in Reya Dawnbringer with (two) Yosei, the Morning Stars.  Bury them alive instead, and when they trigger the double Yosei effect hits...and yes, they skip 2 tapped-down upkeeps......just in time for Reya to have them both resurrected to trigger again. Hard Lock.  Cheers.

nice, personally I'm not to fond of the sphinx in there, do to the colored cost but the rest of it could work well with some differant cards

Well, the deck is meant to be mono-black, for speed, which is how I run it. The cost of the sphinx is never paid because it is a reanimate deck. I also use several tutors to get to my combo as quickly as possible. In this type of deck it's feasible to run creatures that are "out-of-color" , like the Reya and Yosei combo, because the intention is to never pay the costs. The key to the deck is speed....in your opening draw you should have either a Buried Alive or Living Death in your hand. Otherwise, mulligan. Then tutor for the 2nd piece of the combo. Great thing about this deck.....you can use any 3-creature combo you'd like to exploit Living Death. These are simply the 2 that I find most effective.

You could get this turn 2, if (a big IF but hey...) you start with 2 swamp, 3 dark ritual, buried alive and living death.

Turn 1: Play a swamp, use it to play a dark ritual adding 3 to your mana pool. Use that mana to play buried alive, sending the Sphinx and 2 Champions to your graveyard.

Turn 2: Play the other swamp then play 2 dark rituals to get 6 mana. Use 5 of it to play Living Death to win the game with 1 black mana left over in your pool.

 

That is fast, your opponent wouldn't even know what had happened until you'd won!

replace the sphinx from the equation... add sorin markov to make it mono black

Monoblack reanimator decks don't care what color their creatures are, as they never bother with their casting costs!
Hence monoblack reanimator decks don't need planeswalkers to slow them down!

I have several combinations for this re-animator deck now. Depends on how much I like someone as to which combos I use....lol.  I use 4 Bloodghasts as my sacrificials.

If I don't like you, I'll run 3-card (Living Death) combos:

Magister Sphinx + (2) Laquatus' Champions
Reya Dawnbringer + (2) Yosei
or the 2-card  Iona, Shield of Emeria + Painter's Servant
and Contamination if they dare to play me with a non-black deck.

But if you're a buddy, I'll run 2-card (Victimize) combos for a little more interest:

Sadistic Hypnotist + Child of Alara
Avacyn, Angel of Hope + Empyrial Archangel

...and when my M13 order goes through:  Yosei + Disciple of Bolas
Gain 5 life, Draw 5 cards, Tap down 5 permanents, Opponent skips their untap step

Gonna be working on more combos for Disciple of Bolas......love this card.
