Please note that you will need at least one creature to block with... and correct me if I'm wrong, but you can block, play hold the line, and then post combat phase, you can play rite of consumption (since this is before end of turn your blockers should still get the bonus until end of turn)

Hard to pull off because you will have to wait until turn 5, them swinging at you :/ or as early as turn 3 with them swinging at you if you throw in a dark ritual. But yeah, sorry if others have already posted this combo, I just liked the idea of them being all in on an attack with 1 big 7/7 with trample or something, and then watching their guy get killed because of the boost to from hold the line, AND then watching them shake their head as they take the damage AND then you heal by the ammount of damage done. Sheesh, almost worth the wait? :D

Thanks

Rite of consumtion is a sorcery. Hold the line says BLOCKING creatures. Since you cannot be attacked during your turn you have to play Hold the line on an opponents creature after you attack them. Then gain control of that creature to use Rite if Consumption on it on your second main phase to make this work. Your missing a card. It could work, but it seems like a lot of trouble to go through when there are much easier ways to gain life or remove creatures.

Why would he need Quicken? Just use Rite during the second main phase.

@Turbine
He needs some kind of way to make Rite of Consumption instant speed. Otherwise his +7/+7 blockers will lose their bonus at the end of the turn.

Your turn goes like this.

Untap
Upkeep
Draw
Main Phase 1
Combat Phase
Main Phase 2
End Step

During the Combat Phase, you use Hold the Line and kill his creatures. During Main Phase 2, you use Rite of Consumption to sacrifice your creature.

I think Pal knows the turns structure.

you need to note the text on hold the line,  blocking creatures get the boost, which means to give your creatures the boost you need to cast it on your opponents turn

Oh yeah. Sorry about that. I thought people knew turn structure, but it turns out I was just misunderstanding the cards. . .
