have out spell book and both mirrors. but one epic on each mirror. next turn you draw one and cast each epic once. next turn: draw one more: cast each epic twice. ten turns later: you have drawn 10 more cards, and cast each epic a total of 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12=78. 78 epics in twelve turns. and each turn X goes up by one.

just occured to me to use an epic with panoptic mirror.

Sorry, doesn't work because the copy made by Panoptic Mirror is actually cast. The Epic ability, however makes you unable to cast spells, and can't takes precedence over can, usually.

casting involves paying a mana cost, but this says play, see the difference?

Playing is casting, unless you play a land.

Hungry is right, in the updated text "play" gets translated to "cast", which if the card is being casted it doesn't matter how much you're paying since you chose to cast it

oh, well in that case, screw the panoptics, and just have out a spellbook and play one of the two epics, it still increases in power every turn.

Are you telling me, since it is a cast, I can use a counterspell for a Panoptic or Isowhatever Scepter?

yes you can still counter them, since they use the stack.
