lol, that thing is a tidbit wrong.  Better be playing artifacts or black creatures or its gonna be an ugly day! 

Can you imagine if it was any damage instead of just combat damage?

Its not. As long as it is the creature being the source of damage, it applies to infect. That's why i despise that mechanic, it's stupid and wrong in everyway and disgraces magic's sense of balance and fairness. But i guess that's what happens in a rehash of mirrodin, since affinity was an even more broken ability.
