Dark Depths is an awesome card, but it can take a lot of time and mana to "unfreeze" Marit Lage. There are ten counters, and each counter costs 3 mana to remove.

Fortunately for us, Aether Snap will remove every counter, unleashing the evil Marit Lage.

This could be a back-up for Vampire Hexmage. Would also be good against something like a wither deck or an Elf deck.

How did this get 2100+ views in under a week? The most views I've ever seen anything get in that long is 300 or so.

Maybe. You know that Marit Lage one-turn you posted today? At the time of this post: 2229 views... in less than a day. Now that strikes me as weird.

hmm... turn 1 marit lage haste+shroud = Dark Depths, lotus petal, dark ritual, dark ritual, dark ritual (for 7 black), lightning greaves and aether snap

How does Marit Lage survive Aether Snap?

It isn't there yet when the Aether Snap resolves. The token is the result of Dark Depths having no counters, so it isn't there until the Aether Snap resolves.

alot of people did run this deck back in extended. It was turn one the land that turns everything into swamps turn 2 darkdepths play hexmage make a 20/20... The other 1/2 of the deck was U/B Thopter assembly
