Persist has returned with the aid of a new infinity reactor! After you clear their field, rake in for unlimited poisonous blight.

Um, I don't think this would work considering that counters don't cancel each other out, but I may be wrong.

What do you mean, "Counters don't cancel each other out"?  Of course they cancel each other out, where have you been since Shadowmoor block?

Seriously, that would be the dumbest rules call I could ever hear.

So you're saying as long as I had a +1/+1 counter generator on the table then all my persist cards will just keep Persisting (for lack of a better term) because in reality the card is saying "remove a -1/-1 counter"?

I'm going to search the Persist database and this poor forum is going to be filled with combos that are just wrong.

Seriously, tell me the judge that made that call so I can slap him up the back of his head.  What a moron.

holy crap! a new wave of combos is unleashed!

rule 121.3 reads: "If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1
counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 counters are removed from it as a
state-based action, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1
counters on it. See rule 704."

"704.1. State-based actions are game actions that happen
automatically whenever certain conditions (listed below) are met. State-based
actions don’t use the stack.

704.1a Abilities that watch for a specified game state are
triggered abilities, not state-based actions. (See rule 603, “Handling
Triggered Abilities.”)

704.2. State-based actions are checked throughout the game and
are not controlled by any player."

"603.1. Triggered abilities have a trigger condition and an
effect. They are written as “[Trigger condition], [effect],” and begin with the
word “when,” “whenever,” or “at.” They can also be expressed as
“[When/Whenever/At] [trigger event], [effect].”

there you have it, they two counters cancel and are removed. this is a state-based action so it cannot be countered, prevented or protected from (by protection abilities). also, this removal does NOT go on the stack. hmmm . . . let the combos begin!

I am reposting old persist combos that i originally posted in 09, simply with a new sac engine LOL. Also,  who let that guy respond to my post? Would I have submitted a combo this eloquent if i did not know the ruling? :P Not to be rude or anything, but that fellow needs to learn how to play. If he had asked about  normally, I would not have anything to complain about, but he is simply being retarted about it...

I refer to darth of course. Is there any way people from this site for being rude? That harsh attack was not called for, what did I do to deserve it D:
