1. Take the critter with the Helm
2. Make it an artifact with Liquimetal
3. Sac it to Ashhod's for 2 colorless mana
4. Untap Helm thanks to Dross's ability
And finally, our favorite step:
5. Lather, rinse, repeat as needed.

You're missing one other point.  The Helm requires you to Sac a creature to go grab an opponents creature, so you'll need 2 creatures for the cost of 1.  1 to active the Alter and another to pay for the Helm.

I think the most fail combo I've seen on here was when someone submitted a combo with Mind Stone and Painter's Servant instead of Grindstone and Painter's Servant...

you can always use Pawn of Ulamog or something...
