If you haven't noticed, I love control. I love to wipe one side of the board clean and then walk over. I also like finishing opponents in other ways than doling out damage. This combo does both.
Forget those expensive kill one side cards. For a measly 2 blue and 4 mana you can take all your opponents creatures, attack if you like (or can), and then sacrifice them all to the Alter to drain off the top of your opponents deck.
Add in a little discard and your opponent should be sitting on his side asking what just happened and why couldn't I stop it?
