i know, i know... something that has an ability that can be used many times, as compared to mono-artifacts that the ability can be used only once...

A poly artifact needs to tap to use it's ability.

@lin-a mono artifact needs to tap, a poly doesn't,  you just need to remember mono=one as in one time and poly=many
