The point of this combo is to yield protection to your creatures every turn, and this is also groundwork for other creatures which provide benefits to you every time they come into play. Why? This combo is essentially putting all of your creatures into play every turn.

Izzet Chronarch allows you to return a card from your graveyard to your hand when Izzet comes into play. You should always choose to return Ghostway to your hand. Now, each time you cast Ghostway, you can use Izzet's ability to get Ghostway back out of your graveyard. Endless Ghostway.
