For you that don\'t read the Daily MTG reports on Wizards of the Coast, this combo came up in one of the articles and I was wondering how this would be any help.
So you have Sol Ring, March and The Transmuter out. Ring is a 1/1 artifact creature Thanks to March. You use the Transmuter to turn it into a blue non-artifact creature. Then you use Moonlace on the non-artifact therefore non-creature blue permanent to turn it colorless. It Is now a typless permanent for the turn. Please help me out and explain how this would be any use...

pretty much cant be destroyed, but other then that it was just a fun thing to do

Only can be hit by vindicate. Mass removal would just wash by it.

When you play the transmuter ability it stops being an artifact so mar4ch to the machines no longer4 affects it

umm... any mass destrusction would kill it... else all the eldrazi are near invincible... that combo only makes it so the artifact is no longer a artifact, but is a creature, with no types or color

It is no longer a creature either because the only thing making it a creature was the fact that it was an artifact. When you remove it's atifactness, it stops being a creaure (if I'm not mistaken).

you are right hungry.  the only thing that made sol ring a creature was march of the machines, when sol ring stopped being an artifact, march of the machines stopped effecting it since it is not an artifact.

As for mass destruction.  there are a few that will destroy it such as scourglass or worldslayer, but the majority of them such as wog, fallout, damnation will not, since it is nothing and most mass effects specify something

For those of you who dont get it...

First of all,
this can be done with any artifact.

and its a way of stopping artifact removal.
if it loses its artifact type, it loses the creature type, and then becomes colourless once you make it colourless...
So it literally is just a permanent with NO type at all.
So, only cards that say "destroy target permanent" can handle it then. 

Imagine using this on a darksteel forge...
you'd have all indestructible artifacts,
and the thing making them indestructible would be nearly impossible for your opponent to deal with.
