Read rules for Illusionary Mask
{X}: You may choose a creature card in your hand whose mana cost could be paid by some amount of, or all of, the mana you spent on {X}. If you do, you may cast that card face down as a 2/2 creature spell without paying its mana cost. If the creature that spell becomes as it resolves has not been turned face up and would assign or deal damage, be dealt damage, or become tapped, instead it's turned face up and assigns or deals damage, is dealt damage, or becomes tapped. Activate only as a sorcery.

on turn one play a swamp, cast dark ritual and lotus pedal, cast illusionary mask for 2 mana then use illusionary masks ability twice using the last mana from dark ritual and sacrifice lotus petal for one more, put both dreadnoughts into play face down. turn two attack with both creatures turning them face up to deal 24 damage to your opponent (if they don't have a creature)

Nice try, but you would still have to pay sacrifice the 12 power creatures to make it work.  Illusionary Mask only allows it to be played face down.  It doesn't remove activation abilities.

I don't understand how this would not work, it is played as a face-down creature, and face-down creatures are 2/2's with no abilities. If it came into play face-down, its ability shouldn't trigger, right?

Hungry123 is right, since it is not coming into play so the ability does not trigger allowing both to stay in play. it already came into play as a 2/2 without the ability.

the dreadnought comes into play facedown which means the "when it comes into play" ability doesn't trigger. the same thing works with avatar of discord or lord of tresserhorn or primevil force or scythe tiger

The cards do work together, they're from a deck called "Masknought" that was popular in Vintage a few years back and still makes random showings. You can also use Stifle on the Dreadnought to "cheat" it into play or the similair Stifle card that has Split second on it.
