It should. Bury is the old term for destroy, which is clearly stated in the reminder text.

actually, bury is the old term for "put into a graveyard", it has been updated to be either- destroy can't be regenerated or sacrifice- depending it you control the creature being buried. For the devourer it has been changed to sacrifice. this won't work, however, you can always blink the devourer to reset the counters

I like to think of it like blackjack you want to get 21 without going over, only with this if you bust--reset
