This doesn't work at all. Deftblade's ability specifically says it prevents all damage dealt by him and dealt to him, meaning the Fangs will do nothing, just a waste of a card.

This is much better with Goblin Sharpshooter anyways. His ability is "T: Deal 1 damage to target creature or player. Whenever a creature goes into a graveyard from play, untap Goblin Sharpshooter." Which pretty much means T: Kill target creature, for as much as you want.
