I absolutely LOVE when that happens.

That's just like the time when I realized I had 4 Seismic Assaults, 4 Violent Outbursts, and 4 Treasure Hunts, all in different decks. Now they're all together in one deck, and those 12 are the only nonland cards in the deck.

I love those scenarios.

wouldnt you only still be able to do 3 damage to the spitemare??

Nope. It deals the 13 poison counters.

From Gatherer:
Even if the amount of damage dealt to Spitemare is enough to destroy it, Spitemare's ability will trigger and it will deal the full amount of damage to the target.
