Tap COS to give AIV persist. Sac AIV to gain 4 life then return it to play with a -1/-1 counter. The -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters cancel out, leaving you ready to sac him again.

He dosent need to it gains persist until end of turn he can do it as long as he still has juniper order ranger

shakii is right the caldron needs to be able to untap to make this infinite.
Whenever a creature leaves and then returns to play it is considered a new creature and losses everything it had before it left play. In this case it "forgets" it had persist
