still have to deal with the fact you cann't get any creatures onto the field unless you have a creatureless deck.

That is a rough combo,  but Darksteel Colossus will get though all of it(even the wrath).

Flesh is over rated anyways. Go cold, hard, steel, no emotions and an awesome 11 damage for every swing.

i was just using progenitus as a frame of reference as to how you could make it past the combo.

I
used to run a 3 color Anti Creature deck.  4 darksteel collosus, Blue
control, Death pits of rath, caltrops,  Tainted Aether, Aether flash,
and some red burn, and black creature removal. was fun.

i had my progenitus out and we were in a free for all 5-way and i had it 4 times on the field and they kept making me sac it and i had it back on the top 4 times in a row. everyone hated me and thought i was cheating.

Go white black, replace the ridiculously costed hydra with Lashknife Barrier. Then you can also use Pestilence, and any creatures you want.
