i see how this will kill the first turn it is on the board... but what i fail to see is how to get it on the board on turn 1

You can only have one black lotus in a deck. You could add some mox's and dark rit's to get there though. Its only six mana. Not very intensive since its 2 black; 2 colorless; 2 white. The white would be the hardest part to come up with on turn one. Some chrome mox's with some white throw away cards like STP would get you there every once in a while. The new metal craft mox would work also since you will have 0 casting cost artifact creature to drop so you can use it. Good combo.

True, if we're going for a legacy legal combination, a dark ritual and swamp would do in lieu.

You can also do the flash combo... First turn without BL...
