not only that, but there will be only one chance to play anything... so if you have lots of instants, you can cast them on your opponents turn so that they have to respond with another instant or not play a spell at all.
And if you had the Split Second cards from time spiral, it would be a soft lock.

Or, you could just play Arcane Laboratory for the same effect :)

EDIT: My bad, just re-read mana maze, didn't realize the restriction was across all players, not per-player.

sprout swarm would be good. With convoke you can pay just the buyback and still have the spell to block them later. This would work great with cards like ischron scepter and creatures that use abilities.

He would have to be on the field and flipped first but, the only way to cast would be to have a vexing husher, or other uncounterable spell down.

use with any instant with buyback for a lockdown if you have the mana
