Choose Painter's Servant's color to Red.. Have Absolute Law in play. Your creatures bassically now have unblockable, have protection from red, cannot be the target of spells or abilities.. Only thing left to kill them are mass removal spells..

Sorry this will also make your opponent's creatures get protection from red... Maybe use Akroma's Memorial or something...

Wouldn't absolute make the painter not affect anything in play. by giving them protection from red and turning everything red including the permenant that is causeing the effect everything else should then at that time not be effected by the painter due to it being red.

no protection from red means it can't be targeted by red if painters is making all permanents red in addition thats not targeting and just drop in some circle of protection enchantments for red to solve your opponents combat damage.and if your really good drop in some iona shield of emeria's and its game over your opponent can't play anymore spells.

Minor is right. Protection only protects from DEBT, Damage, Enchant, Blocking, and Targeting. Since painters or absolute do none of these things and are global effects, the combo does what it is intented, much like how Wrath of God destroys the Black Knight.
I do like the combo and agree with some COP it can be really nice in a weenie deck
