Just getting people thinking. This one is 3 cards instead of 1, but the twin heart stone has farther reach for your side, and umbral mantle can be switched to another creature. Also this is colorless. A alternate card this is training grounds. It makes it blue, but still makes a 1 colorless to untap. Also look at thornbite staff for uses.

Training Grounds... and it is a good alternate... have you seen that with birds of paradise? turn 3 win... i mean beatdown...

Does Heartstone work with the activated ability on the equipment even though it says a creatures ability.

Umbral mantel says "equipped creature has". It is the creatures ability. The equip just gives it to the creature.
