I'm not sure that ability works the way you think it does. You can't just copy part of the ability right?

If you pay 2 to copy it, doesn't that mean you just tap another set of creatures (total power of at least 10) to give your troll the bonus? And can't you do that anyway without the aid of the artifact?

On a side note, I don't see where the trample comes from?

I thought that it also gave it trample. Add Rancor.

No, think about another example. If you copied Niv-Mizzet's ability. If you tapped him to draw a card, then copied the ability, you wouldn't have to tap him again.

For Pal-of-Lim-Dul's question. No. The tapping is the price. The Rings of Brighthearth copy effects not cost. The Ring's cost is the cost to copy. To tell which is the effect and which is the cost look for the : after the tap/ mana symbol. If there isn't one then look for the word If. Usually before the word if is the price and after is the effect. Rings uses if since it is triggered instead of activated.

Feral animist added can double any creatures's power for 5 mana. 3 for himself and 2 for the rings.

No he can only double his own power not another creatures.  When an ability refers to a specfic card it gets applied only to that card, that includes any copied abilities.
