If Gideon is confusing, my question is whether they have to pay their mana when they are forced to attack.

I'm thinking not.

it wont work because it says attack if the can if they dont pay 2 mana then no attacky

and ghostly prison says creatures attacking you the jura forces the to attack him

I think you can only use one of the planeswalker abilities per turn.

I don't see a lockdown... You they aren't able to attack you unless they pay 2 for each creature. You can't make them pay 2, so you can't make them able to attack you.

Also... They don't have to pay 2 to attack Gideon. He's still fair game, and he'll die.

Neither of these pieces overlap in any way to further affect your opponents more than they would separate from eachother

Would you be using the +2 ability to make everything attack it? If so, I don't see how it's a lock down because it can easily lose all of it's loyalty counters if the attack is too powerful.

No, they can play things when ever they want, alive or dead. when you active  gidions ability creatures attack him if able.  When its your opponents attack phase ghost prison says you can't attack unless you pay 2.  The opponent then has the option if they want to pay 2 or not per creature, if they choose not to pay the creature is unable to attack.  gidion does nothing and their mana is free to play other creatures or whatever.  if they do pay, they have no choice but to attack gidion.

As redpanda said these cards do not interact, in fact since the gidion's forced attack is used to open the defenses or in conjuntion with attacking shenigans, this combo is actually on the bad side since it gives options to your opponent.

Now if you want this combo to be affective you need to add something like this to force their hand...

better combo similar... norritt/nettling imp (those type creature) with something that prevents people from attacking... like i think peacekeeper from weatherlight

There is no real interaction between Gideon's +2 ability and Ghostly Prison.

Ghostly Prison only affects creatures who are attacking you, not creatures attacking your Planeswalkers.

Even if it did extend to your Planeswalkers, your opponent can choose to simply not pay the (2), their creatures will be unable to attack so nothing happens.
