When you play it out, if you immediately remove all the counters (putting the ability on the stack five times), and then sacrifice it, the leave battlefield will resolve first, and then it will permanently exile the 5 lands.
Instead, you could use contagion engine to allow the removal of a land per turn- locking the other player down.
