will make all your opponents lands tap for a certain colour, and once your opponent taps one land that makes that colour of mana, the rest are tapped.
therefore.. your opponent cant play anything really

although, your opponent could play an instant spell on your turn to destroy it, but still though... XD

The only problem is that mana abilities don't use the stack. You could tap all of your lands to add mana into your mana-pool before the trigger resolves.

Mana-web was printed before the stack, however, just like power-sink it was gimped horribly when classic 6th edition came around.

Silence won't work because it too uses the stack, but there's an interesting question with this combo. Because both cards were printed prior to 6th edition, I'm not sure how the cards would've worked at that time (whether tapping a single mana would immediately cause the rest to be tapped without time for you to tap them all.

I'll have to look into the rules of the time.

well, even with new rules and whatever...

Wouldnt this be good against control anyways?
your opponent cant spend mana AND leave mana to counter or whatever... right?

Well, if we`re going by the most current rules, in response to this they could just tap all of their mana at once and not have to worry about mana-burn. They would essentially just have to cast everything in the same phase. While this limits how they can use instants to suprise you, it won't change a lot about how most people play.

It's good, but it's not a super-control.

im sure if the cards Mana-web was reprinted, it would read "players can not tap more than 1 land for mana, and tap all lands that player controls when 1 land is tapped for mana (no other effects can be caused by these lands being tapped)"

personally, the cards that the rules have made useless (which were once great cards) should get erratta to reflect the new rules (stack) if the stack affects them in a major way

Actually, I know it would say,

Whenever
a land an opponent controls is tapped for mana, tap all lands that
player controls that could produce any type of mana that land could
produce.

Gatherer FTW!

Not really. This slows you, too, unless you run mono-green. It also hinders multicolor decks a bit more than war's toll.

War's toll affects all opponents' land tapping (multiplayer+), but doesn't directly impact multicolor play. It also affects creatures.

Different enough...but I'd prefer War's Toll to this combo if I were running red.
