first play bolth greater auramancy then play platinum angel and put inviolability on it. platinum angel will stop you from looseing and the three enchantments will stop platinum angel from dieing.

Mass removal cards like Wrath of God and Hallowed Burial could stop the Platinum Angel.

ok i've tried and it is near impossible to make it where you cant lose.... a simple cruel edict can ruin all this even witht the darksteel forge. the closest you can come is all this and isochron scepter and orims chant and still they could get out waterveils and take infinate turns.. i would really like someone to post a combo that there is no wayy of getting around with less than 10 cards...

pariah then ivory mask-protect you-infinte turns/forced sac don't mean anything if you cant be hurt or targeted-let them deck themselves

words of worship-prevent decking

dovescape-prevent mass removal

if i'm not missing anything-including orignal combo- you can't lose for 8 cards

You can always play Qasali Pridemage to destroy Dovescape.

You can play it, however,   Pridemage, Harmonic, Ronom Unicorn, etc.... all target and because of the dual Greater Auramancy, dovescape has shroud -so they don't do squat.

Ok ,obliiterate will work to destroy the angel however the enchantments will be spared and if we go with ghostfire's suggestion and put in darksteel forge in place of inviolability the artifacts as well as the angel will be spared, some artifact lands as part of the mana base and we can still have a never lose situation with 8 cards.

This would be so much fun for a multiplayer game

Someone could always play Evacuation and return the Angel to it's hand. It doesn't target it, and it doesn't destroy it.

When it comes down to it P. Angel is an oober card that is severely broken in my opinion. The main basis of this card is to keep it alive at all cost, BUT IT DOES NOT OFFER YOU A WIN. Only if your opponent is stupid enough to quite or decks themself by drawing to many cards will this really happen. It draws out the game to a matter of who is willing to go the distance for the hour-hours it would take to complete.

Read the text on the card. It basically states that the game can only end in a draw. Tournement play this was mainly a fail safe to keep you from losing to many points if your opponent had a better deck.

When the card first came out in the mirrodin block it was one of the many Tooth and Nail Decks that gained massive popularity in the main stream tournements. Great use of this deck at the time with the angel was that the deck was anti artifact (the main theme of mirrodin was artifact) which gave it an edge against Ravager Affinity.

Ravager Affinity was by far the most aggressive deck that i had ever seen at the time to come out of any block. It was so aggressive that in order to decrease its power and speed Wizards of The Coast banned Skull Clamp from Block, Extended, and Legacy. This did not phase the deck at all.

Again P. Angel is a massive fail safe that when used correctly Can give you the edge.

Well let's think about this. Are we debating about the best combo with Platinum angel? If that's so let's reveiw.

Platinum angel + Darksteel Forge- Colorless, but expensive. doesn't provide shroud so perhaps... Whispersilk cloak?

Platinum angel + inviolabilty- Cheaper, but needs white in a deck for this to work. The other enchantments are just kind of pointless. But this combo is in Standard if it's just these two cards.

Everything else is pretty much arbitrary. There is no perfect combo in magic. There's game winners, game stallers, and just crazy fun combos. But none of them are perfect. (unless you want a 10 card combo).

Flagship is right! there's no such thing as a perfect combo that can't be prevented or countered.. If there is such thing as a perfect combo that can't be countered or prevented then that will make Magic the Gathering imbalanced...Every combo has its weakness..
