Have 1 tinman out on the table. Then cast the Rite with the "Kicker" effect. VOILA! U are now able to fetch 5 basic lands and put them in play. Plus, as a nice bonus, u will have 5 shiny tinmen blockers ready to defend! I know 9 mana requires some mana acceleration. But I saw someone pull this off last night, and it was impresseve! FYI, the picture on the tinman is a guy named "Jens". Supposedly he won a European event earlier this decade.  :-)

Rite of Replication + "insert card name here" doesn't mean it's a combo. Synergy, not a combo. Copying creatures isn't a combo, even if it's copying Simulacrum to get a mana advantage, it's still not a combo copying a card.

Umm, I beg to differ with Cianidex!!

According to this section from the WOTC site, "Magic: The Gathering is a game of nearly infinite possibilities and card combinations. One of the most exciting parts of the game is when you discover two or more cards that interact in a way that opens up those possibilities. "

It doesn't say anywhere that making 5 copies of a creature fails to qualify as a combo. That is just my opinion. But I respect your as well.  :-)

Everyone has the right to their own opinions, some people may think this is one but I do not. I honestly see no combo at all in playing one card that will copy another. It's just like playing multiples of the same card.

As I said though, everyone has their own opinions.

Maybe Rite of Replication + Eternal Witness would be a better combo...

A card can be a combo without being an infinite combo. Don't know if i would call that a combo, or just synergy, but since they play on each other they can be called a combo. Technically you only need a combo to rack up 20 damage not infinite to win.

^^^

Synergy, it is much more common than actual combos. Like this post, it would be synergy, not a combo.

So, the second turn garruk is not a combo but a synergy?

I think everyone is right in this case! Yes the two cards make a simi-combo only to be played once and gain something for it! Not a winning combo, which is what comes to mind when I think about a combo. To me the meaning of “combo” would be a set of cards that win you the game once you play them. Something like Dragon Storm and 4 Borardan Hellkites!

This really isn't a combo. There are many better things to do with Rite of Replication. I could play Rite of Replication on Darksteel Colossus and call it a combo then.
