This can be done with any card that has you pay life. Minion of the Waste works well.

I like wall of blood with rite of consumption. pay 19 life to the wall then cast the rite and you gain the 19 back and opponent loses 19. Then sacrifice the sigil for an additional 38 life gain. beautiful. I have looked at using this card but its just a little to slow.

unless an opponent loses life children of korlis is cheaper
