All in play. Make a token for one then sac it for two. Make two tokens, then sac for four. Make four tokens, then sac for eight. Make eight tokens, then sac for sixteen. . .

Also, Ashnod's Altar, Sliver Queen works with Soul's Attendant, Hissing Iguanar, Angelic Chorus, Pandemonium, Herd Gnarr, Juniper Order Ranger, Suture Priest, and Warstorm Surge.

why do people like heartstone over training grounds. the ability is nowhere near as good and it costs more. please, someone explain this to me

Well, it let's you stay in your colors. But this combo was made before Training Grounds existed.

old school combo... i used this when stronghold was new... if i am not mistaken, all 3 cards were all in the same block (chronicles and stronghold were both in 1994)

also... how is it less than 1 mana (training grounds states it can not reduce the cost to less than 1, same as heartsone... which actually reduces the queen ability to 1, which ... with the altar... is infinite tokens (excellent to sacrifice to altar of dementia)

one less mana because if you use it in a deck with sliver overlord or necrotic sliver you would still have to pay two unlike training grounds where you would only have to pay one
