Play Sleeper Agent and an opponent gains control of it. Play Ragged Veins on it. Take them to less life than you, then play Fire Covenant with most of your life at Sleeper Agent.

could you not only deal its toughness worth of damage to it (3) before it dies only dealing 3 damage to the player?

yeah, I looked at the comp rules last night and figured it out. They don't die until all damage is dealt.
