Lock your opponents from getting cards by making them discard with words+eye. Throw in grimmoire to nuke their hands completely in 1 go.

Why is Mind's Eye in there? The other two provide infinite discard.

It's not an infinite discard combo, it's an instant speed discard lock.

Mind's eye lets you force them to discard their topdeck, and, well, every card they draw, when they draw it. No more waiting for your turn to come around and make them discard, giving them that opportunity to actually play something on their own turn. :D

i love it because it can be played as an instant... i love the "words of" enchantment... especially words of war and words of waste...

Lol, yes, they do have instants to topdeck. Maybe one of those instants could even be a Krosan Grip or a Naturalize if they're lucky enough, lol.

Thanks for likin' the combo! At first I thought this site was full of trolls. :p

I actually run this in my Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker EDH deck, as well as other instant discards (noxious toad/mindlash sliver/ashen-skin zubera+shirei+sac outlet... such as...), and use Thoughtpicker Witch to filter out their instants. It's so, so mean. People rarely expect instant-speed discard, and some people I've come across were especially caught off guard because they'd never realized 99% of discard abilities are limited to sorcery speed.

hey dude... you forgot the Spellbomb... it is also a discarder with instant speed... plus can also be a card draw...

Yes, that one's in the 1%. But it's only a 1-shot... until you recur it. :)
There's also that Haunting Hymn.

I design all my instant-speed discard to savagely butcher the multiplayer field, though... and a necrogen spellbomb is hard to get back fast enough to abuse in my Shirei deck.

Yup, if it's for EDH then it is out of the question... you'll need a Salvaging station to exploit the necrogen...

This one's strength over the others, though, is that it can discard every time they draw, not just one card from their draw step. If they've got a Phyrexian Arena, or a Font of Mythos, or even a suspended Wheel of Fate, you can still screw them over if you've got the mana.

ok, but wouldnt you have to pay 1 generic for every card they draw, 1 mana activates this ONE time, right? thats why it says "the next time" meaning once, one mana one discarded card. throw in an infinite mana combo and bing, jackpot

Actually, it's a little hungrier than that, even. 1 mana for the words and 1 mana for the eye. Throw in an infinite mana combo and jackpot indeed. I can usually support it with Ashnod's Altar, myself.
