With this combo, you can prevent any damage dealt to you except those that cannot be prevented...

First, Have both cards in play...
If damage will be dealt to you, just use wandering Mage's 3rd ability. Then put the -1/-1 counter on Morselhoarder.
If damage is more than 2, keep repeating the process. Take the black mana from Morselhoarder by removing the -1/-1 counter.


Add a Doubling Season in the mix and you can prevent damage on creatures you control too. and get infinite mana.

Only problem with this combo is that its a 4-color combo at least, and therefore hard to accomplish.

Morselhoarder itself can help cast Wandering Mage..
