if everything is in play, you'll only need 2 mana... 1 blue and one red...

I think that he is referring to the opponent. If I misconstrued your post, could you explain it more?

I know that is why the title said almost impossible... they need the red mana to continue the chain lightning... and since you have shroud, your opponent targets himself (actually it's not your opponent's decision to target himself but yours because of mindslaver...)
