The untap activation cost of crab umbra is on crab umbra itself, it will not be reduced... just the activation cost of crystal quarry but still good... how about the favored Freed from the Real...

Switch Crab Umbra with Umbral Mantle (maybe) and this should work (maybe).

it will work with umbral mantle because umbral mantle gives the ability to the creature...

But this still work...

It needs 2 training grounds. Training grounds reduce the cost of Crystal Quarry's second ability from pay 5 to get one of each color to pay 3 (or 1 if you have 2 training grounds) to get 1 of each color. If you pay 1 to get 5, then pay 3 you get 1. Freed from the real works better for this.

If you want infinite mana of every color except blue, then yes, this works. Not a very good call, though, especially if this is part of a mono-blue deck. Umbral Mantle, on the other hand... after Training Grounds, you can pay one mana of any color to untap it over and over.

So the question is, do you pay the extra mana for the convenience of Umbral Mantle, or do you settle for the cheap costs of other cards that deny you a color you might very well need when all's said and done?

I think, i'll go for umbral mantle... Take note that you can also attack after it's all said and done... Don't forget the pump that the mantle gives... very nice with wind zendikon...

Believe me, you'll need the pump of the mantle and very useful too... The perfect equipment for elves... enables the creature to untap then pumps it up... two things that elves need...

Thanks turbine. I also like that you guys upgraded my combo to be better. The mantle gives the color that you need, as well as the very useful pump up. I took out the idea of fist of the sun which was the start of the combo. With this i could put it back it, but why with infinite mana?
