Remove the age counter to put on a +1/+1 counter, which cancels out the -1/-1 counter.

but then the turn after that he gets 3 -1/-1 counters on him, and after that he gets 4.

still a pretty good combo because you can have a 9/9 for 2 turns and then a 8/8and then a 6/6  and finaly a 1/1 for 6 mana

oh wait, you remove the age counter? thats ingenius! that works so well with so many other cumualtive upkeep cards!

You could always add a second Power Conduit or Chisei, Heart of Oceans to the combo.
Use one to remove the -1/-1 counter on Aboroth, and use the other to remove the age counter.

At the start of your next turn, Aboroth might be 8/8, but you can remove the counters and make him a 11/11 instead. Turn after that, cumulative upkeep triggers again - turns into a 10/10, remove both counters to make him an 13/13... repeat ad infinitum.
