Broodwarden gives all your Eldrazi Spawn +2/+1. Shields of Velis Vel gives your creatures +0/+1 and turns them into Eldrazi Spawn (amongst other things). Simples!

...okay, but if you're paying

for Broodwarden anyways, why not just stay mono-White and use Mirror Entity?

to get it out, then as much else as you want for X/X creatures with all types until end of turn.

A few reasons:

1. Budget. Mirror Entity is a rare, these are common and uncommon.

2. Stacking. With multiple Brood Wardens in play it scales up quickly. Having two out will give your guys +4/+3 (after the Shields).

3. Mana saving. With the Entity you have to pay (5) to set your power/toughness. With this combo you pay (W) and thus still have mana for other cards and tricks.

4. Support. If you are playing with Eldrazi Spawn anyway (Growth Spasm, Nest Invader etc.) then they will get big anyway without the Shields. Plus being in Green gives most of the best swarm supporting options.

OK I will admit if you have a lot of mana free, Mirror Entity is probably better (and hilarious in an infinite mana engine).

OR - how about combining both ideas? With both the Entity and the Watcher in play, you can pay your 5 mana to make all your guys 7/6!
