You play the Magus (or blood moon) and then any creature with mountain walk (the mountaineer was an example) and whenever your opponent plays a non basic land, your creatures are unblockable

That is of course if your opponent has a non basic land on the field, or if they are even playing with one in thier deck

Personally i prefer urborg, tomb of yawgmouth(swampwalk) over blood moon, it doesn't cost anything, doesn't need non-basics, harder to remove, and doesn't hurt you.
Though if i was playing mono-red yeah magus is the way to go
