Use the artifical evolution to change the text to creature type you want and the for 2 mana get protection in a instant!

If memory serves, a black spell targeting a creature fizzles if the creature gains protection before the spell resolves (because the target becomes illegal). Correct?

Yup... if the target becomes illegal for an spell/effect to target it, upon resolution, the spell/effect is fizzled

Cheers Ephemerance, the nighthawk has gotta be one of the best cards lol Long as u have the mana with this combos the only things to stop you are board sweepers and colourless spells! Could add training grounds to make it cheaper.
