Quite simple, cast channel and pay four life to cast Lich's Tomb. Now pay as much life as you want to cast anything. I want to build a deck around this using a bunch of artifacts that allow for card drawing, such as: Chromatic Star, Cromatic Sphere, Conjurers bauble, ect..., in order to cast something gamewinning. It would be fun to pull this off on turn two and attack with a 698/698 Chimeric staff. If anyone has any ideas to make a deck like this work I'd really appreciate it if you could share your ideas with me.

Your reason to build a deck? Infinite Combo? Nay, draw a card.

I am not sure that this will work, Jester. The Lich's Tomb says that when you lose life, you have to sac a permanent. By channelling, wouldn't you have to sac the tomb for the loss of life?

You also can't pay something you don't have. If you have zero life, you can't get any more mana from Channel.

I dont think paying triggers the tomb, and under out house rules where negative life is kept track of you can pay under

I don't think that he would have negative life, as he only used 4 to bring out the tomb. Once the tomb is out, any paying of life to Channel would result in a loss-of-life condition, triggering the sacrifice.

The rule is you must have the life to pay it. You can lose life if you have zero; but you can not pay it. So you would have to have 1 life to get (1) mana from channel. Some people house rule this but it was put in place to stop combo's like this. (IMO; since like the rest of you i have no idea what wizards is thinking sometimes)

This was posted in 2009 guys. I'm sure Jester realizes by today that it doesn't work.

You can't pay life you don't have.
