Add 4 black to your mana pool. Before the second ability resolves from the stack, convert a black to blue and untap the creature with freed from the real, then add another 4 black mana to your mana pool and repeat.

Fast cast the witch engine with entomb and exhume

Or, use this with the Witch engine.

Witch Engine is a strange card that seems to be hard to use in a combo.

This doesn't work. Witch Engine has two abilities. One static ability: Swampwalk.
One activated ability. The activated ability resolves atomically and
there is no opportunity to perform any actions in between adding mana to
your mana pool and target opponent gaining control of it.

I'm not entirely sure about this, but don't you pay the cost, then the ability activates. For example, Dispelling a Harrow makes them still sacrifice the land.

: Add to your mana pool. Target opponent gains control of Witch Engine. is one ability.

when you tap, other spells/abilities can be put on the stack. but as soon as this is the top of the stack and starts to resolve you have to resolve the whole ability before anything else can be added.

you cant take the BBBB and untap halfway through and repeat.

Alright, so I was looking this over and comparing it to Goblin Cannon. Apparently, yes you would have to put it on the stack before you'd get a chance to really touch the mana. However, let's assume for a minute that you're attacking someone and you have 4 black mana untapped, you could essentially get 12 black mana (because you'll have to use 4 from the original 16 to boost) from the creature by placing the ability on the stack and then in reaction untapping and placing another event on the stack above it.

So, yes, you're right, you can't just get an infinite mana combo going from this, but what you can do is hit someone hard who is using swamps. Just declare attack with it, and wait for the abilities to resolve so you have the 12 black mana in your manapool, you can boost the creature with an enchantment already attached to it like this:

It will be attacking them, even when they gain control of it, and you can boost it. Take about losing by a creature you control.

If you add Urbog, Tomb of Yawgmoth, you will always be able to attack directly, and you could use your islands for the ability as well.
