This would be good in an archenemy deck. and I think it can be multiple opponants. I would have to read the cards harder.

The oracle text reads "As Roots of Life enters the battlefield, choose Islands or Swamps.

Whenever a land of the chosen type an opponent controls becomes tapped, you gain 1 life."


So maybe it really is all opponents? Hmm..

it is all opponants. it triggers whenever ANY opponant taps a swamp. then resolves, the=an triggers again for ANY opponant. Its a great combo and it works. Good Job.

If you were playing against a mono Green deck and you had Roots and the swamp maker out. you will domanate.

From gather.wizards.com "10/4/2004    In multi-player games it affects all opponents." It works now.

yah, WotC changed ALOT of the old cards that said "target opponent" to "an opponent"  a few years ago, when the game started picking up multiplayer popularity. (about 7 years ago, actually lol)
but yah, this combo is fun. i use it in my mono-green EDH (since urborg has no mana symbols on it I can use it, along with Spreading Algae and Mana Web) which also now says "any opponent"

but the black mana that the lands produce will just be colorless anyway... just to make all lands swamp...

All the lands in play will be able to be tapped for black mana in addition to any other ability they have.

He said mono-green EDH so when you use it there, it's just colorless mana instead of black...

The Urbog land doesn't produce colourless mana; it produces black mana which can be used for the colourless costs of cards. It's just a technicality.

Yes, it can produce black mana, but still a black mana that cannot be used for activation costs requiring black mana is as good as colorless mana...

And also the Red mana is also needed from lands... Not just from Harabaz Druid...
