You cast Soul Link on a opponent's creature, then you summon Volcano Hellion and play Ragged Veins as instant (to confuse your opponent and to have initiative advantage) onto "Soul Linked" creature. You choose opponent's creature as a target of Volcano Hellion ability and deal, for example, 100000 damages to this creature. You gains that much life (0 damages at the result to you) and your opponent loses that much lifes

As a state-based action, before you gain the life, you would also be at 0, resulting in a tie.

JMDin83 is right. If you gave the Volcano Hellion lifelink via something like basilisk collar your combo would work. Lifelink is a static ability, while a card that says "Whenever enchanted creature deals damage, you gain that much life." is a triggered ability. The problem is that the order is damage, the ability goes on the stack, you are at 0 life and lose the game. A static ability like lifelink happens at the same time. You lose life and gain life simultaneously. Change the soul link to basilisk collar, and you have an idea. I don't know of any option that is static and gives you life when your enemy takes damage. This is the problem with this combo. A platinum angel would do the trick. (but to use the angel is really old idea, and way more mana cost.)

Your welcome. This isn't bad. You can hit them for your life total -1. That means if you have more life then they do you can win, and in a sense, this is like flinging a -1 seria avatar at them.

But you can win with just choosing a number half of their life, right?

Ragged Veins, and Volcano Hellion are what deal the damage. If you added sanguine bond then you would only have to chose half there life rounded up to make this work.
