There is also a squirrel card with the same ability as the Nantuko.

How about giviing the Nantuko, regen? will it still produce tokens? Because in regenerate, the rule text says, remove all damage from creature...

You could make it indestructible.

Regenerate works fine. The damage is removed from the creature, not prevented.

indestructible doesn't prevent damage. The only static ability that prevents damage is protection form a color, and absorb (which is only found on the lymph sliver). If you use an enchantment to make a creature indestructible and he take damage, he can be surprise killed by disenchanting him.

No one said that Indestructibility prevents damage.

There's a card called Lashknife Barrier that gives creatures you control an ability identical to Absorb 1, although they never changed it in the oracle to reflect this. From what I can see, making him indestructible would be a better option if you used a recurring source of damage, and regeneration would work better if you used something to do it all in one shot like Shivan Metoer. I would experiment with a few of both in the deck if I were you and make your own decision.

"Regeneration prevents ALL damage from one turn."

regeneration does not prevent any damage, at all.  Paradox is correct, It only removes the damage that was dealt.  While the end result is the same (the creature has no damage on it) there is a fundemental difference between the too.  Case in point, If the damage was prevented this combo would be worthless with regen

Regeneration also only removes the damage dealt up to the point of regeneration. If the creature takes lethal damage again later in the turn, it needs to regenerate again.

But still, 13 tokens for 5 mana isn't bad, especially with Coat of Arms... :D

Regeneration says that the next time that creature would be destroyed, it isn't. Instead, tap it, remove all damage from it, and remove it from combat.

Could you regenerate a creature twice in one turn?

Yes, you can regenerate as many times as you want during one turn.

Basically, the easiest way to think about Regeneration is that it sets up a 'shield' on the creature until the end of the turn (as despite the flavour of a dead creature regrowing itself, the Regeneration ability itself must be played before the event that kills it).

If a permanent (Any permanent can be regenerated, creatures are just the most common) has one or more of these 'shields', the next time it would be destroyed (either by lethal damage, or a destroy effect), a shield is used up instead. When a shield is used like this the permanent becomes tapped, removed from combat, and any damage is removed.

If a creature has already regenerated and lost it's damage, any further damage will be treated normally and can kill the creature again.

i.e. someone Shocks your 2 toughness creature with a regen shield. The creature would die to taking damage=to it's toughness, but has a regen shield so it doesn't die. If someone shocks it again later in the turn it will die (unless you can regen it again).

What non-creature cards have regenerate?

Loxodon Mender, Metallurgeon, Pteron Ghost and Welding Jar can regenerate any artifact. Reknit can regenerate any permanent. I think that's about it though...

Admittedly the non-creature regeneration effects are rare, but they are around :)

I've never thought of using Metallurgeon to regenerate anything other than creatures. (head-desk)

Yup, you can't regenerate a creature that you have already thrown to the pits...

That would be too broken. With cards like Clergy of the Holy Nimbus.

Regenerate is like an effect healing the creature involved... If you throw a creature to the pits, even if you heal that, it will still die... Tissue regeneration can only do that much...

I play with a guy who loves to SotO his Godsires... and I love to make him regret doing it with simple things like Unsummon and Journey to Nowhere.

LOL... Can't blame you on that one... I've been playing RTS games and when i first heard FoW (Force of Will, FYI), my first thought was Fog of War? I even thought that there was a card named "Fog of War" and it's ability is somewhat the same as "Fog"...

You thought you were alone... I'm pretty sure there is some guy (other than you) reading this post and thinking "What the hell does FoW stands for? Fog of War?"...

I had no idea what FoW was, and I still have no idea what LB is. For future reference, the only time I use terms like this is when a card has already been mentioned earlier in the post.

LB, FYI is Lightning Bolt... Most of the infamous cards are called that way for obvious reason that we are just to lazy to say the whole word when we know what it means shortened/abbreviated...
